虎杖是蓼科的植物之一,其原生長于東亞並廣氾分布于中國。虎杖在中國和日本傳統醫藥中被用於治療多種病痛,其中包括黴菌感染,多種皮膚炎症,心血管疾病和肝臟疾病等。 白藜蘆醇大黃素是虎杖中的主要功能成分。研究顯示白藜蘆醇和大黃素表現出廣氾的抗氧化特性,如LDL膽固醇氧化和脂質過氧化反應。白藜蘆醇同時顯示出有助於心血管健康和活血,減輕疼痛,清熱去濕,去毒去痰。其它成分包括丹蒽酮大黃素甲醚大黃酸都具有抗炎症,祛關節炎和抗微生物活性。
