木犀草素是從乙醇離析出的為含一個結晶水的金黃色針狀體。能溶于乙醇、 ；微溶于熱水，難溶于冷水。水溶液呈悅目的淡黃色，溶于10% 氫氧化鈉水溶液，並呈深黃色。溶于濃硫酸生成鋅鹽，呈暗紅黃色。
