Matrine is the alkaloid,which is extracted from the root of plant Sophora flavescens.Generally, the total alkaloids of Sophora flavescens are mainly composed of matrine, Sophorine, oxysophorine, Sophorine and other alkaloids. The content of matrine and oxymatrine is the highest. Other sources are the root of mountain bean and the aboveground part of root of bean.

Function:

1.Matrine has a variety of pharmacological effects, including anti-cancer effects and action as a kappa  receptor and receptor agonist.

 2. Matrine possesses strong antitumor activities in vitro .

 3. Inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis are the likely mechanism.
