Physical and chemical properties
Bitter amygdalin is a natural glycoside compound, trihydrate as rhomboidal crystals (water), solubility in water:83G/L(25°C), melting point: 223-226°C specific rotation: -38.5°(c=4,H2O)
Solubility of amygdalin in water: 83G/L(25°C), lg soluble in 12ml water, 900ml ethanol and 11ml boiling ethanol, easily soluble in boiling water, almost insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution pH value is nearly neutral.
Medicinal use
Chemical name Benzeneacetonitrile, α-[(6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-β, its efficacy is used for cough and asthma, chest full of phlegm, blood deficiency, dryness and constipation. Taste is slightly warm; bitter; attributed to lung and large intestine meridian; little poison; appearance is trihydrate as rhomboidal columnar crystals (water).
